This client is an avid birdwatcher, and is especially fond of hummingbirds. The plants in this design were selected primarily for hummingbirds, but they also provide habitat for other birds and pollinators. Native plants of the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere in North America, and their cultivars, also support populations of invertebrates that are an important part of hummingbirds’ diets. In addition to habitat value, the flower-forward plant selection gives colorful, cottage garden style to the design.
