Project plan view

Japanese garden design and plants with colorful foliage inspired this client. Unfortunately, his favorite foliage plants are shade-lovers, and yard is mostly sunny. Since it will take some time for the new trees to develop a canopy, plant varieties have been chosen that can tolerate some sun, with a little extra water during hot, dry weather: Hosta hybrids, Hakonechloa, and Dryopteris. Areas that are to remain sunny, contain Lavandula, Iberis, and Pennisetum, which keep to the theme of interesting foliage while also thriving with more sun and less water. Since the property slopes toward the street, with a rockery along the sidewalk, plants in the parking strip are better suited to wetter conditions.
