The client wanted to completely transform her shady property to allow enough sun for a lawn and play area. Once the retaining wall and existing trees are removed and the soil regraded, the new plantings will stabilize the soil. Tall, narrow evergreen shrubs and trees form a privacy hedge with a small footprint. Design elements including the walkway of large pavers set in gravel, the curved shape of the lawn, and the plant palette based on evergreens and ornamental grasses, work together to create a contemporary look.
